We will be harvesting the Syrah 470 this Sunday September 19, 2010.  It’s the first grape to ripen in the wacky 2010 season.  We’ve been dropping lots of Grenache in the last week and hope to harvest it next.  I’m hoping the Cabernet Sauvignon 337 & 169  come in with the Grenache or soon thereafter.

When I first heard about growers dropping fruit I thought it was nuts.  And I still feel a pang when I do it, but your really have no choice.  Either drop fruit so it ripens or waste the whole season.

Mouvedre is traditionally  a late harvesting grape.  Check out the picture of all the fruit on the ground.  Now we’re Doing a NO rain tap dance.
